Tree Change......

Things have changed in my life lately and I think it is time that I had a change!  Whether it be a change of house, change of hair colour/style, change of job.  I would really love to have a tree change......BUT there is the risk of not having a job....so no money to live, pay bills etc.

Has anyone had a tree change.....what are the pros and cons!!!

Will I be able to do it on my own??  Country people are much nicer than city people??

What do you think!!!

It's Finished....

I finished painting my pergola last weekend and yesterday I started decorating it with my old wares, plants etc. I am sure I will move things around a couple of times until I am happy with their spot and I am sure I will buy 1 or 2 more things that will look great under it....I think I can feel an antiquing day coming on!!!  No no, save money...the little voice in my head is telling me...I wish it would get out of my head...lol.

The only way to connect the downpipe for the guttering was to run it back to the house as I didn't want my pavers lifted to dig underneath....as everyone knows once they are lifted they will never go back the same way or look the same.  To try and hide the pipe I have put Grandpa's Whiskers around the pipe, tied with string, and once it starts to grow it will cover the pipe and hang down...it will look better once it is all covered...what do you think!! If anyone has any other ideas...i am all ears.

I love old metal wash tubs (& watering cans) so I placed this one under the pergola with my little gardener man to keep an eye on it.

I also pottered around in the garden yesterday....how relaxing...I cut back my roses and cut some lavender flowers to put in a vase inside.  I staked my sweet peas which are starting to come on put not quite tall enough to reach the trellis. I also have some buds on my orchids that my Mum gave me years ago and this is the first time that they have flowered....maybe Mum is working her magic from above...thanks Mum!  Can't wait until spring when the all the flowers will start to bloom. Next week I think it will be a trip to buy some sugar cane mulch to put over the garden beds ready for spring.

Enjoy your day!

A Bit of This & That....

I am finally getting my pergola put up at home this week. It's not finished yet but I thought I would share some progress photos.  I am home tomorrow so it can hopefully be finished off.

I have had it built around my flowering Cherry tree, I was a bit worried it wouldn't look any good but I am happy with....better than I thought it would look.  Once it is finished all I have to do is paint it.....yeah great!

While I was home I got stuck into painting and distressing an old cupboard that was in the shed, which I want to put in one of the bedrooms for some extra storage.

It's my first attempt at distressing furniture, not sure if I am happy with it, but it will do. I have to get the handles and then it will be finished.

I also baked some M&M cookies.

Bailey was curled up on the lounge in the sun....what a life...spoilt dog!!

The daffodils are all out around my old fence.

That's it for now...I will post the finished pergola and cupboard photos once they are painted and the handles are on.

Enjoy your day!

A Great Day Out...

I mentioned in my last post that I was having a day at Rick Rutherford's for his Yulefest celebrations.  Well, last Saturday my good friend Chris and I decided we would make a day of it and so off we went and visited our usual antique shops on the way up the mountains.  It was a great day with morning tea, snacks at Rick's and then a yummy dinner on the way home...what a big day but very enjoyable with a lot of laughs and chatting!!

My first purchase was this great old Shaving Jar...I will have to find some old combs to put in it.

Then it was off to buy some christmas decorations.  I bought these cute bowl ornies with snowmen painted inside, in 3 different sizes.  I bought some more ornies but will show you with my decorating at christmas time.  We had a great time at Rick's, he always makes us feel welcome.
(this is only some of the decorations...aren't they cute!)

I also bought this lovely wee willy candle holder with flicker candle, I have a couple of these in different sizes...I just love them...they look great turned on at night.

I didn't buy this candle holder, but I thought I would show you anyway, my partner made this out of an old rabbit trap (mind you it was my idea), so I have 2 of these on the wall in the lounge room with flicker candles and they too look great.

I also bought these lovely little button boots from Chris' website (www.littlehouseprimitives.com - well worth a look), they look great sitting on my old dressing table in my bedroom. Next to them is the hook that you use to do the buttons up.

During the week I finally put up my old hoe on the wall in the lounge room.  I think it needs some things to hang off it....looks like there might be another day out coming soon!!!

My daffodils have started to flower in the back garden.  They look really good next to the old fence I put up.  I can't wait until spring, I have started planting out a lot of foxglove, stock, hollyhock and delphinium seedlings, so come spring I should have a lot of flowers and colour in the front and back gardens this year...can't wait!

Well, that was another great day out, thanks Chris....we will have to start planning the next one!!

Enjoy your day!
